The high holiday are one of the many highlights that many enjoy at Chabad. From Rosh Hashana dinner and services to the meaningful Yom Kippur experience, through the joy of Sukkot and celebrations on Simchat torah. Together we sing, pray, study, are inspired and ask Hashem for personal blessings and healing for our troubled and fractured world and for individual blessings for our family and friends.
With the confidence in Hashem's kindness, we are excited to take on the upcoming year with joy and blessings, as Hashem has inscribed us, and our loved ones in the "Book of Life" with good health, peace, tranquility and prosperity.
Several times throughout the prayers we mention the importance of Mitzvot, specifically Tzedaka, such as, when we chant the words "U'Teshuva U'Tefilah U'Tzedaka... will avert the severity of the decree". As well as, during the Yizkor prayer when we pledge to do a Mitzvah in memory of loved ones, including the Mitzvah of Tzedaka. Indeed, acts of charity performed in proximity to Yom Kippur are the "keys" to open the gates of Heaven.
